If your house is anything like mine, your floor is prone to take a beating. Between a couple of adults and a handful of kids and animals our old carpet was starting to look like something out of a horror movie. Finally there was just one spill too many and I decided it was absolutely time to replace the flooring throughout the whole house. At first I didn?t know what kind of flooring I wanted to go with. All I knew was I wanted something affordable, because we didn?t have a very large budget to do this project with, and durable enough to stand up to everything that was going to stomp over it after it was installed.
One of the first things I considered was cheap hardwood flooring. Most of it was quite affordably priced, and it had a good reputation for being dent and wear resistant. It came in a range of nice colors, and quite a few of the brands came with a 10 or 25 year warranty depending on the thickness. The other option I considered was the cheap bamboo flooring I found. Cork is a highly resilient flooring material and I liked how it looked. It is usually quite a bit more expensive than the laminate but the discounted stuff was an option we could afford.
I spent a couple of weeks debating between the cheap hardwood flooring and the cheap bamboo flooring. The laminate flooring cost a good bit less than the cork even with it being discounted which was attractive since we didn?t have a whole lot to spend and we could have used the excess for some other projects. In the end however, I decided to go with the cork. It just seemed more durable and I really liked how the showroom sample looked. We have had it in the house for about six months now and so far it has held up as well as I was hoping it would. I love how it looks in the house and it is much easier to keep clean than the carpet ever was.
