Job Description

Mission:
The Office of Vice President for Student Affairs is responsible for oversight of all non-academic, co-curricular student activities and events including Office of Student Life, Office of Housing & Residence Life, Counseling Services (Clinical & ADA), Career Services, Intramural Athletics, Study Abroad Program and Service Learning.

Position reports directly to the President of the University.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
? Overall responsibility for the management of all departments reporting to this position (as specified in the Mission) including a diverse staff.
? Oversight of student clubs, organizations and households.
? Exhibit fiscal responsibility for the development and management of a large budget across many departments.
? Effectively and clearly communicate, interpret and enforce department and University policies to staff and students.
? Plan, design, develop and implement all related programs and services.
? Oversees student disciplinary interventions to minimize behavioral issues within the University and community.
? Demonstrates effective leadership among students, staff, co-workers and the community.
? Demonstrates a sensitivity and concern for the well-being of students; i.e. for their spiritual, emotional, personal and academic needs; acts as advisor and mentor.
? Effectively develops and fosters relationships with students, staff, Board members, alumni and parents.
? Understands the legal requirements and assists in ADA compliance for all affected students.
? Works closely with the Department of Campus Ministry.
? Works closely with the VP of Academic Affairs regarding student curriculum and programs.
? Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
? Special projects or requests assigned by the President's Office.
? Works closely with Food services to ensure students have access to a well-rounded meal plan program.
? Serves as a strong Catholic role model for the students and the community.

Qualifications:
? A Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts, Education, Social Work, Theology, Business, or related field is required.
? A Master's Degree in Higher Education Management, Theology, Student Personnel, Management, Counseling or related field is required.
? Three to five years experience in the management and administration of Student Affairs.
? Successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and values of Ave Maria University and Catholic higher education.
? Candidate must possess personal characteristics such as integrity, flexibility, sense of humor, and a desire to serve.
? Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and related technology.

Compensation:
Compensation is commensurate with experience and education. The University provides a benefits package which includes health insurance, retirement plan, paid time off - vacation and personal/sick days, and holidays.
