Description
The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) will support the Best Buy domestic store channel and the Retail Finance leadership team. This position is fast-paced and provides an outstanding opportunity to understand and influence our domestic retail business, a $30B+ channel. The SFA will be responsible for delivering decision support and performance management capabilities that will enable their business partners and executive leadership to make timely decisions and achieve desired financial results. The SFA will be focused on national level support, analyzing the business across operating models and geographies.
The SFA will gain leadership experience by directly managing a Financial Analyst (FA). The SFA will mentor their FA and other FAs on the Retail Finance team to help improve their technical and analytical skills.
Specific responsibilities of the Senior Financial Analyst position are as follows:
- Create, analyze and produce components of financial reporting rhythms, such as revenue and margin rate analyses and/or forecast with identification of risks and opportunities
- Provide retail leadership with tools to enhance and optimize their business by developing reporting methodologies and processes to identify trends and anomalies
- Support business performance management and forecasting by providing understanding and visibility to actual financial results and business drivers
- "Test and measure" analyses, such as competitive analysis, new value props, selling model tests and operational enhancements
- Ad-hoc analysis
- Management and development of FA
The ideal candidate should exhibit:
- Understanding of business and financial concepts
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to provide analyses that consistently provide insights on "what the numbers are saying" and recommendations
- Skills in navigating through various systems to obtain information and create advanced spreadsheets
- Ability to sense check data for accuracy and challenges unreasonable assumptions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving team environment and across functional groups
- Strong leadership skills and presence
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics
- 3 or more years' experience in finance, accounting, business or related area
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
- High level of ethics, integrity, discretion and confidentiality
- Proficient in use of Excel, and Power Point
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or other advanced degree
- Previous Essbase experience
